Awkward Sydney has been my personal journey, I suppose in many ways, my coming of age (probably more aptly a second coming of age). The dream was to create a place where people could hang, share ideas, grab a delicious meal and an artistically crated drink and form relationships. I am happy to say that, 1 year and a bit on, my Awkward family and I have managed to do that in our own small way at that awkward “cursed” corner in Darlinghurst.
A lot has changed at Awkward, people have come and gone, and each was necessary and vital to what the concept has become. There have been periods of triumph, success and happiness, and moments of disappointment and sadness. Through it all, Awkward Sydney kept evolving, growing, maturing. I am still all about creating community, and in the age of social media, am taking this idea online.
So you may ask now, what is Awkward Sydney? Awkward Sydney is my life in Sydney – a life of juxtapositions, of conflict, of contradictions, of clarity, of enjoyment, of love, of interest, of music, of fashion, of good food and style. It continues to be a meeting place at the corner of Darlinghurst Road and William Street, and is now also a fashion and lifestyle blog, while I myself am now a stylist. Awkward Sydney is everything I am and hope to be, exposed.
I welcome you to our blog, where we can explore and discuss ideas about what we love. I also welcome you to our restaurant and bar where the conversations happen face to face.
Come and enjoy a live performance, great food and beautiful drinks, while all the while catching up on the latest happenings in my Awkward life in Sydney.
I’ll see you here soon ![]()
