3 MarDavid Jones – Autumn/Winter 2013
7 FebI love, love, LOVED David Jones’ Autumn/Winter collection launch yesterday. Of particular interest and fun was the cheeky statement being made to rival, Myer, by sending the stunning Miranda Kerr down the runway wearing Ellery, a brand that was, until recently, a Myer staple.
Dramas aside, the collection featured clashing patterns (surprise, surprise) and showed a more fashion forward side of David Jones, not seen in a while. This was best exemplified by the plethora of leather and lace options that stunned A-listers and fashion lovers present. The leather, I believe, is part of the BDSM movement inspired, arguably, by none other than 50 Shades of Grey. Louis Vuitton seems to have started the movement with their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. The lace, however, was an evolution of this idea that adds an element of femininity and softness to the risqué element of leather.
All in all, great job David Jones! I think this iconic brand is making a come back, and Awkward Sydney supports you all the way!
